„The Cave - Animals in war“ is an exhibition which discloses the often overlooked stories of animals during wartime. Focusing on their suffer and abuse since ancient time, the transformation of the site is the central theme and story of the scenography: from a shelter for humans to a shelter for animals. The exhibition is located in a former bunker below the animal sanctuary of TIERART in Maßweiler. Once used to store nuclear warheads during the Cold War, the area today serves as a home for abused animals and wildlife conservation. Texts, images and exhibits are expanded by sound and video installations to enhance an immersive experience. The clean and minimalist design emphasizes the atmosphere of the historic bunker.
