The exhibition "The Alt-Right Complex" by HMKV in the Dortmunder U thematizes the increasing right-wing populism on the Internet. Especially through online forums and platforms, users can communicate with each other and exchange their right-wing populist ideas. The result is a (sub)culture that has developed a distorted view of reality. This aspect is taken up scenographically by using semi-transparent Twinwall polycarbonate sheets. These create a blurred and distorted effect when viewed through. People are only recognized as silhouettes, the typography is distorted from certain perspectives. At the beginning, the visitor is guided through a funnel or fish trap into the exhibition. The architecture, on which a glossary with the most important names and terms from the right-wing populist scene is located, attunes to the theme and draws the visitor into the exhibition. The narrowing of the glossary also gives the impression that it is difficult to find the way out of the world of right-wing populism after been drawn into it. Graphic Design: essays on typography
